I love setting my intention each year with a word. It’s so powerful to pick a word that sums up my intentions for the year and everything I hope to achieve.
In 2017 my word was Focus.
I knew the power of focus and I was fully aware that trying to do ALL. THE. THINGS at the same time was seriously hampering my growth. Yes, I was growing, but what would be possible if I had focus? I wanted to find out.
In that year I launched my membership The Revolution Inner Circle, which hands down is my greatest achievement in business. It sounds difficult to believe, but it’s like family. A wonderful collection of mamas (and a papa!) who are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. The support they have for each other is off the chain and I’m so proud that these people chose me to help them realise their dreams.
I focused my efforts on promoting the Inner Circle, rather than selling individually the courses that the members get. I see the results people gained from the membership and truly believe that this can make more impact on a person, than a single stand alone course.
Fully aware that I needed more time, I hired Jade. The BEST decision I’ve ever made. Jade is my assistant, my rock, my friend and I never want to be without her.
I focused on what I knew I needed to do to scale my business, Speaking. So, I accepted invitations to speak at various conferences, including BlogOn and Britmums Live, overcoming a long held fear of public speaking in the process.
In 2018 I chose Exposure. I knew it was time to stop playing safe and to take my business to the next level. I ran an online summit, Blogging Changes Lives which saw 25 awesome mamas sharing their advice and guidance to hundreds of mamapreneurs.
I was asked to be a speaker on various virtual summits, the pinnacle being Social Ads School alongside Melyssa Griffin, Kimra Luna and many others.
In the middle of March I published my book (written in 90 days), Blogs Change Lives. I think this fact alone shows the power of focus.

In all honesty moving to a different country (July 2017) and being very unhappy slightly hampered my attempts to fully embrace the ‘exposure’ I wanted to create during 2018.
Which leads me onto 2019, and the word I should choose. The word which will sum up my hopes and dreams for the coming year. Knowing we have another European move (thank god, back to the UK!), I toyed with the idea of picking ‘Change’. I want to change so many things, shake things up and finally scale my business. But that doesn’t feel quite right.
I want more than that. I want to ‘Breakthrough’.
For so long I’ve felt as if I’m on the edge of all that is possible for me and I want to jump in with both feet next year.

How am I going to embrace this word in 2019?
For so long I’ve had the same elevator pitch
‘I help mum bloggers turn their blogs into fun, fulfilling and profitable businesses, so they can have more freedom in their lives’.
But recently it hit me.
I don’t just help mamas with blogging. Blogging is the vehicle I used to start my online business, but what I do is not confined to blogging. By putting this out there into the world, I’m missing the mark with my audience targeting. So much of what I teach is crucial to online businesses whether they have a blog or not.
I was being short-sighted and was playing safe. In reality I’ve helped mamas start and grow businesses that don’t even have a blog attached to them. I help them find their voice, tap into their super powers and package it in a way that enables them to create sustainable businesses that they love. Blogs not necessary.
What I’m passionate about is igniting significant change in mamas. Showing them what they’re capable of and helping them create a plan to scale their brilliance. Yes, a blog might be how they do that, but it’s not a pre-requisite.
In my Inner Circle there’s a stylist, life-coaches, many virtual assistants, apparel sellers, photographers, tech specialists, a cleaning company owner, designers, as well as influencers and bloggers. So you can see where my elevator pitch was falling short and not really reflecting truly the type of people I help.
My new elevator pitch is still work in progress, but this is the essence.
I help mamapreneurs tap into their super powers, demystifying strategies to scale their brilliance into businesses they love.
Main areas of change for 2019?
- I want to integrate more of the knowledge I have of NLP and Psychology. It ties in with the work I love to do around mindset and so I intend to create a signature framework tapping into these areas for my clients.
- My new book will be launched in 2019. This already fits with this slightly shifted focus, so I just need to get to work and write.
- As an ex-events manager I love organising physical get togethers. As we are returning to the UK to live next year, I can start this arm of my business. Possibly starting with workshops for my Inner Circle clients, but transforming into a wider support network for mamas who know they were destined for more.
- I’m going to capitalise on my engagement spikes. Let’s not try to be everywhere, but double down our efforts on the platforms that give us the most return – For me, Facebook Live.
- Make the most of the content I create. I’ve created over 4k blog posts (I’ve deleted hundreds but there are still around 3k on one blog alone). I always want to scale the next mountain, but I need to put systems in place to get the content I create out into the world and into the hands of the people who it can help. With this in mind…
- I’m expanding my small team to include a promotions intern. Watch this space!
- I’m going to be taking weekends off. My husband will be commuting and we will only have 2 days a week for family time. Therefore, except for a quick check in to my membership, I’ll be logging off on Friday afternoon, until Monday morning. The workaholic in me is shaking at the thought. But I didn’t build a business to become a slave to it. We should ALL remember that.
- I’m going to become more prolific as a guest poster and I hope to produce more content on other platforms than I do on my own sites.
- I will also be working to extend my circle. Collaborating with new people and offering my services to other people’s audiences if there’s a way I can add value.
I need to step up in my business. Be the CEO I want to be now. Focus on value, relationships and being uncomfortable.

Are you making any changes to your business in 2019? I’d love to hear.
