Do you have loads of free time? Chances are the answer is no! As a solopreneur, with a jam-packed to-do list you need to save time wherever you can.
If you’re sensible and want to avoid burnout, you’ll start using automation as much as possible.
Social media is an essential part of growing your business and building an audience, but it can take so much time. You totally want to be on the platform engaging in real-time, but you also need to have your post promotion handled, ideally by automation.
It can be so hard to get your followers to see your content, organic reach is declining and it’s not unusual for only 1-5% of your followers to see your content. Shocking isn’t it!? If these few people are seeing your content on social media, this will impact the page views you get on your blog.
Content marketing
One of the most cost-effective ways to bring traffic to your site is through content marketing; writing and sharing helpful content with your audience.
Quite often bloggers share their posts once or twice and leave it at that. It takes time to pull out parts of the content to share as teasers on social media, selecting times and scheduling everything. Often it’s time we just don’t have.
Content marketing results in three times more leads than paid advertising. So we really should be putting more effort into promoting the content we create. The traction you can get on social media can also feed into the SEO . of the posts.
A social media strategy will help you get the maximum impact from all the content you create.
The benefits of having a social media strategy
Great content helps to position you as an expert, builds credibility, helps you get more organic traffic and can help you build a community.
Most people share new content a few times when the post goes live. But they slack when it comes to promoting older posts. Sound familiar?……
Often we run out of time. We start creating the next post and we don’t give the older content the time it needs, so it’s not forgotten. If you’re not resharing your content, both old and new, you’re losing out on traffic.
Social media marketing will help you:
- Generate more traffic. Sharing on social media will help you find people who wouldn’t have found you through search. This is helped by using hashtags. Hashtags help people who aren’t following you, see your content.
- Increase your Domain Authority. Active social media accounts that are linked to your site can help improve your DA.
- To connect and network with other bloggers and your target audience. Social media is a great way to build a relationship with your followers and other business owners/content creators.
- Create brand awareness. Posting regularly on social media keeps your brand in people’s minds and lets you reach new people.
- Improve your SEO. In the same way, using social media for your blog improves your DA, it can help improve your SEO via link building.
- Enable others to share your content. Have you shared something great on social media this week? Chances are, if other people think it’s great too they’ll want to share it so their friends can see it.
