Do you live a secret life? Is all not quite as it seems? Well I’m harbouring a secret and I’m almost too scared to tell you. From the outside I’m an organisational Queen with all of my duck in a row. In real life, my ducks are still in a row, but I often forget to feed them! In my real life with practical things I’m so forgetful. I’m the type of person who would only notice I needed to wash some clothes when I’d worn the last thing in my wardrobe. I’m just not wired like that. It’s safe to say Mary Poppins has nothing to worry about. Nothing at all.
You all know I have a young daughter, so add her and my business into the mix and quite frankly it’s surprising that I can remember my own name.
What I could NEVER remember to do was to buy ink for our home printer. It would warn me for a while it was low, then totally run out and it could be months before I would remember to replace it. NOT ideal when you’re running a business and need to print documents to keep records up to date.
I needed an assistant just to do my ink ordering, as adding one more thing into my juggle was not working out. Then I was approached by Epson who offered me chance to try their ReadyInk service. As soon as I read about it I knew I would be able to hold off on my Ink-Purchasing-Assistant as this service would do it all for me.
The Epson team sent us a new Expression Photo XP-8500 Small-in-One printer in order to test out the ReadyInk service. The printer is fab and has some great features. Ava loved that it lets you print patterned paper right from the printer selection (rather than from a browser or memory card). You can also put a memory card or USB directly into this printer which is very convenient.

It was really easy to set the printer up. I popped to epson.co.uk to set up an account which took less than 5 minutes. Almost all Epson printers are compatible with this service and to check your you can head to https://readyink.epson.eu/gb/en/start.html. This means that when the printer is getting low on ink it will trigger my account to send out what was required. Then it just arrives at my door and I don’t even have to think about it! Perfection! Seriously, the less I have to think about the better. ReadyInk is actually the only service of its type that doesn’t force people into a subscription. So if you’re commitment phobic, fear not, they’ve got you covered.

The Expression Photo XP-8500 Small-in-One printer is a professional quality printer wrapped up in a streamlined package. The cartridges last a surprisingly long time (obviously depending on what we are actually printing). Also bear in mind that the individual inks mean you only replace the cartridge that runs out. It prints really quietly too, which is great, as believe me we don’t need any more noise in this house!

You can use it to print borderless photos up to 8″ x 10″ with 6-color Claria® Photo HD Inks and it can even print 4″ x 6″ photos as quickly as in 10 seconds. We take a LOT of photos and so it’s nice to be able to print them out straight away. I love that it’s wireless, as it makes setup and use so much easier. It also means we can print from our phones too, which is really useful.
I love any service which takes tasks out of your day and simplifies life and ReadyInk does just that. Have you tried ReadyInk?

This sounds like business heaven for me – with my various businesses I have so many ‘business balls’ in the air at any one time that I always forget ink! The number of times I have had to call in a favour to print something or casually ask my husband to do it for me at his work makes me cringe! Well done to Epson – what a clever idea!
Oh amazing!!! I’m always sending off for photos, it would be so nice to just print some off at home for once as we take a lot too! I love putting scrapbooks and photo albums together so this sounds like it would be perfect for that.
This is exactly what I need in my life, I end up getting my partner to print stuff from his work because we are always running out or forgetting to replace it!
Great review and very handy indeed 🙂 xxx
Oh, I’m TERRIBLE for remembering to buy ink! This sounds brilliant. And those patterned papers are too cute!
My worst moment was printing off my statement for a court case which needed to be served to my ex’s solicitor that afternoon and running out of ink I looked whiter than the paper I’d tried to print on!
Wow!! This looks fabulous!! Izzy has her mock exams coming up and is constantly wanting to print out revision work sheets!!
This looks brilliant. And so fab that you aren’t put into a subscription like so many others!
Oh this is fantastic! I currently have one that requires a subscription but this would be a much better choice! Game changer
This is amazing Aby, Epson technology is getting super clever with this Readyink service. Not only would this be incredibly time-saving for my business, but fantastic for my home life also. My daughter is just in the last few weeks of her Art Foundation Course and we are needing good quality printing and my old printer just isn’t up to the job, so we are outsourcing.
This looks brilliant. I’m always looking for a printer that can handle my printable documents I create for parents. My current one always runs out of ink straight away.
OK – I think you’ve hit upon the one thing that I absolutely NEED in my life! We literally NEVER have printer ink ready – and the number of times the kids need homework printing out, or I need to print photos out or we need to print tickets or the tax return and we have NO ink! It absolutely is the one thing guaranteed to make me scream! I love the fact that it isn’t in a subscription and that you don’t have to think about when to get the ink – what a huge relief it must be! Brilliant idea!
I like it that it’s not a fixed subscription service – I thoroughly dislike being tied down. My old Canon is in its last legs and I need to find a value for money replacement. I shall investigate…
Wow I love this idea! Having to dash out to buy ink is such a pain. This must save so much time!
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been out of ink for about 6 months I think, I always swear I’m going to replace it and then forget until the next time I need to print something. Not ideal when I’m working with clients or I need to store business info. Thanks for sharing, this looks brill.
This sounds awesome. I’m going to be in the market for a new printer in the coming months and hadn’t realised that Epson did this kind of ink ordering service. I’ll definitely be checking them out
This sounds amazing! I’ve been terrible for remembering printer ink the whole way through my degree (which has led to some 11pm dashes to the uni library!). I need to get on service, it’ll make life so much easier!
What a great idea. Having two children with additional needs means we’re always having to print out forms and photocopy paper work. This is what I need in my life!
Believe it or not, we don’t actually own a printer in our house. And one of the reasons is because of the hassle of always running out of ink. But this not only looks like a fabulous printer but sounds like an amazing service. Any product that means I have one less job on my to-do list has to be a must-have. Hugs Lucy xxxx
What a fantastic idea. I love a printer for printing acivity and crafy projects for my children. I hate running out of ink!
This is genius – I love my Epson printer and need this service in my life! As parents of children with additional needs we are constantly printing forms and documents for everyone and are always having ink crises! This would be amazing and save us so much stress.
I so need one of these in my life! With myself and my partner running 3 businesses from home we are always running out of ink at inopportune moments! and that patterned paper!!! So many applications for mine and the kids craft projects- it’s got me thinking about decoupage projects! PS. I have the same mug as you Aby, love a flamingo!
