In just over two weeks we are off to Barcelona for the weekend and we are so excited! It will be Baby’s first time on a plane, which fills me with just as much trepidation as it does excitement, but I am sure she will be a little superstar. Fingers firmly crossed.
The lovely people at Travel Supermarket are sending us to stay in the centre of the city at the Hotel Barcelona Universal.
Do you see why we are excited?!
We plan to visit Barcelona Zoo and the Aquarium, spending the rest of the time taking in the sights and sounds of the city. Neither Mr Hubby nor I have been to Barcelona before, so we are keen to experience as much as we can. I have been maniacally Googling and here are some places I would love to visit.
5 places on my Barcelona wish list
- Parc d’Atraccions Tibidabo
This amusement park opened in 1868 and is described as having other-worldly charms. I am not sure I would trust the rides… but I would love to go and takes some pictures.
- Pudding
This family friendly eatery is described as being similar to the animated part of ‘Mary Poppins’, when they jump into the chalk drawing on the pavement. It was opened by a Frenchwoman based in Barcelona and was designed for families. Parents can enjoy a coffee with pastries or sandwiches, while the children play with books, games, chalkboards and even iPads.
-
Gelaaati di Marco
Probably one of the best ice creams shops in the city apparently….need I say more?!
- Sightseeing Hop on Hop off Bus Tour
As we won’t have huge amounts of time I think a great way to see as much of the city as possible is by taking an open top bus tour.
- Fantastik
I don’t seem to be able to go anywhere without shopping being involved and Fantastik looks right up my street. Described as an extraordinary bazaar offering playful and quirky objects from around the world.
I will of course fill you in when we get back; hopefully we will manage to get to all these places. Have you been to Barcelona? Do you have any recommendations of places we should add to the list?

The beach and the marina. It’s wonderful to see a beach in a city, and Las Ramblas is an essential too – although might be quite busy for little ones. SO jealous, I’d love to go back

Thanks lovely x
I’ve been to Bareelona twice. The last time was nearly 10 years ago – far too long. It was before children so my signtseeing priorities have changed a little bit but I would recommend a walk down Las Ramblas to see the statue people and general Barcelona life. Also go to the beach – the city has a couple of miles of sandy sea front. Have an amazing time!

Thanks for the tips huni. I can’t wait! x
You need to visit Park Guell, it’s amazing, absolutely stunning, you really need to try and visit it
The hotel looks incredible, you are going to seriously enjoy this trip. If you do nothing else definitely go up the mountain to Tibidabo, it’s a bit odd with the amusement park up there but the little church is so beautiful. We did the on off bus tour and usually take one of these as you won’t miss any of the major tourist spots. Have a wonderful time xxx

Thanks huni. Really looking forward to it xxx
Have a brilliant time! We went earlier in the year and it was a great trip. The beaches are lovely and they are really easy to get to. We also really enjoyed the cable car ride up Montjuic and if you can keep Baby up late enough the Magic Fountain is lovely, it’s all lit up with music and it’s really easy to find somewhere with a good view. Good luck with the plane journey, it’s not too long!
