At the start of September we spent a lovely week in Brittany. While we were there we enjoyed some lovely days out and I wanted to share them with you, in case you plan to holiday there. This post is VERY photo heavy, oops.
Dinan
Dinan is a walled Breton town in the Côtes-d’Armor in northwestern France. It is totally stunning! Beautiful cobbled streets and lots of gorgeous independent shops.
We decided to walk down this hill, as it was so pretty. Little did we know it was very steep as it progressed. To make matters worse we didn’t come out where we thought we would, so we had to walk back up it too! Thankfully there were so many pretty things to check out on the way, while we caught our breath.

Dinard
Dinard is a town in the Ille-et-Vilaine area and it has the most gorgeous beach. I don’t think i have ever been on such a clean beach, it was spectacular.
Mont St Michel
Le Mont-Saint-Michel is an island commune in Normandy. It is located approximately one kilometre off the country’s northwestern coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. Oh and yes, it’s stunning! You can park your car and walk, take the bus or travel by horse and carriage to mount itself.
We chose to walk along the causeway, and it was breathtaking! Such an open landscape, with superb views. Baby adored watching the horses trot past. The mount houses restaurants and is the perfect place to munch on a baguette, while taking in the scenery.
We spotted a model having a photoshoot on the beach near the mount!
There were quite a few hotels and restaurants in village at the other end of the causeway to the mount and it would appear that they love cows….
as you can see!
For a breathtaking spectacle you couldn’t find better than Mont St Michel.
St Malo
Saint-Malo is a walled port city in the Ille-et-Vilaine area of Brittany. St Malo has my heart, I had never been before this trip but I would go back in a shot! It has a stunning beach with crystal blue waters and lots of sand for Baby to throw into the sea…. don’t ask..

We had lunch in a lovely cafe and I had the best beefburger I have ever tasted, seriously amazing.
Within it’s walls St Malo is crammed with beautiful shops, eateries and lots of ice cream. This isn’t the best picture, but I wanted to share some of the ice cream on offer. The salted caramel was heavenly.
Parc Zoologique de la Bourbansais
There are Zoos and then they are Zoos in the grounds of a Chateau. Such a treat for the eyes, with stunning formal gardens, in addition to all the animals you could wish for. Amazingly, this property has been owned by the same family since 1583.
We had a ball! Such a great range of animals on display and some Baby hadn’t seen before.
This little monkey was very cheeky and tried to sneak out of the walk through in Baby’s pram.
He even checked out the door to make sure it was definitely shut after we left.
Flamingos how I love you!
A lucky snap caught this little goat hurdling the fence.
It was a good day for catching things mid air!
We had such an amazing day here and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Brittany.

I adore Mont St Michel, one of my fave places. I’d like to visit Dinan again though as the weekend we went it rained, a lot, and my step-dad got ill so we had to come home early having not seen anything of it!
Oh, this has brought back so many memories. I used to work in Brittany and I loved seeing all the places I used to visit, especially St Malo. I worked in Dol-de-Bretagne so really close. Next time you visit, check out Dol. It’s gorgeous. Love the photos!

I absolutely love France but when we go we usually just go to Disneyland Paris. I know there is so much more to france than just Disney

Aw I went to Brittany with one of my best friends about ten years ago now and we stayed in St Malo – I just love those walled towns they are such an amazing mixture of ancient and modern aren’t they? The coastline is stunning too – a bit like Cornwall but more exotic! You haven’t mentioned crepes though- when we were there it seemed impossible to escape the ubiquitous crepe house!! Lovely pics of the animals too – amazing setting for the zoo! Xx #sharewithme

Aw, beautiful photos. This post brings back memories of a first family holiday abroad when I was at 6th form. I was doing french A level so my mum made me walk round talking to people to practice.
We went in October half term, so was pretty cold on the beaches, but we visited St Malo, and Dinan (where my mum pushed a man in a wheelchair to the top of a hill where he was pointing to go…we had concerns that we’d find him still sitting there when we returned and some panicking carers.
Looks like such a fabulous day Aby. What a brilliant way to spend time with your family. I really love your photos x
