Ooh I do love Christmas! For me, it is definitely my favourite time of year. I remember the full on excitement of being a child at Christmas, and now I get to experience it all again through Baby’s eyes. Especially now she’s a little older and so much more aware of what’s going on. I completely adore trying to find just the right present for friends and family all year round but at Christmas it is even more exciting.
Part of the excitement of Christmas is the build up to the big day itself. When Baby was born I wanted to introduce traditions that would become our family traditions and that would help to make Christmas even more special for us.
My favourite family traditions
- We have an activity advent. It started for Baby’s first Christmas as at 9 months old she was too young for chocolate, so I bought little keepsakes and Christmas gifts to put in her advent calendar. Last year the small gifts changed to Christmas themed activities and it is the same again this year. We include things like making a snowy den and reading a Christmas story in it, a trip to town to choose a special decoration for the tree and baking/crafting too.
- Christmas Eve box. Each Christmas Eve morning Baby gets a hamper filled with Christmas goodies, usually PJs, a Christmas teddy, some slipper socks, DVD, Christmas book, plus lots of other bits and pieces.
- Family. Our family is really small, but each year Aunty J (Hubby’s sister) comes down to stay with us for Christmas. We love her so much and it is just not Christmas until she arrives. We are also super lucky that she cooks Christmas dinner too!

- Visiting Santa. I don’t think Christmas would be Christmas without a visit to Santa. Although Baby is not keen on getting too near the big fella himself, she loves to see the reindeers, make reindeer food and soak up the atmosphere. Oh and she also likes the presents!
- Dropping off presents. I love visiting friends before Christmas and dropping off their presents. It is usually the last time you see them for a couple of weeks, as you are all busy with the celebrations and that makes it even more special.
I also adore Christmas adverts and love the reveal of all the large retailers Christmas offerings. This year Mogg gets my vote, but this beautiful advert from Littlewoods runs a close second.
Littlewoods have launched their #MakeTheirChristmas campaign, which focuses on the small things that you love about Christmas. I love getting someone a present that I know they will love; for me, that is far better than buying an expensive present that I know will sit in the back of a cupboard and never be used.
Littlewoods have a fabulous range of gifts to suit all budgets and you can pick up some fabulous presents and stocking fillers from the Littlewoods Christmas range.
Do you have any family traditions? What do you do to #maketheirChristmas?
