Bedroom Make Over Wish List

Our house is getting a little tired.  All of the rooms were decorated quite some time ago and I feel the decor doesn’t really reflect us.  I would love our space to feel more personal.  We have had some good news though.  It looks likely that our landlords will be ripping out our coal fire central heating system and putting in a more modern one.  Hooray!  No more coal sacks or coal dust everywhere! (hopefully).   After the work has been done we will need to redecorate our living room and our bedroom.  I have been perusing colour charts and interior design shops to gain inspiration for our much needed bedroom make over.  One thing we have to bear in mind is that our house doesn’t have much natural light, so we cannot go too dark with the colours.

Here is my mood board for the bedroom

Bedroom

I love turquoise and have recently discovered that I like it with accents of hot pink (1 & 8).  I saw this great canvas (2), which has the lyrics from one of my favourite songs embossed on it and it is a perfect sentiment for a bedroom.  It is made by Gorgeous Graffiti and found via Not on the High Street (£175).

All our furniture is pine, and while this wouldn’t be my first choice, there is no point in replacing it, so this bed (3) would match and would also give us some more much needed extra storage space.  This one is priced at £240 from Ikea (Mandal).  We would also buy a new mattress and have decided on a memory foam mattress due to both of us having bad backs.  I think this bedding would fit really well with my chosen colour scheme and it quite light and pretty (in region of £115 from John Lewis).

I thought this lips cushion was quite a funky addition, a shot of colour and what a bargain at £7 from Ikea.  The rug I have chosen (6) is a mere £10, also from Ikea.  I love that shop!  This lampshade picks up the neutral tone I have included, which would go with our existing neutral carpet.  This box pleat shade is £12.99 from Homebase.  I adore these lights and would love to use them for bedside lights,  the slight hitch is they are £255 each from Goodwin and Godwin….(found via Not on the High Street).  I think this might blow our budget… Another Ikea bargain is this lovely throw, which is £10.

So here our my plans for our room, now just to save some pennies and actually do it all!  I really dislike decorating.  Wish me luck!

  1. I hate the disruption of decorating and the mess it creates but it is worth it when everything returns to some semblance of normality and you can enjoy your home again without noticing everything that needs to be ‘done’! Good luck with your plans.

Me too, I wish we could afford to get decorators in, as our finish never looks as good as I would like x

  2. I love your choices! The bed is exactly what I would choose. Every room needs to be updated every once in a while, and the master bedroom is a very good place to start 🙂 Good luck!
