What Matters Most

I recently came across a competition being organised by John Lewis.  The challenge was to post a picture of your most treasured possession with a six word story. I thought long and hard about the possessions I couldn’t live without.  I found this quite difficult.  Everything I thought of, I realised I would not be distraught if I no longer had it.  Then it dawned on me the one thing I couldn’t live without are my photographs.   Photographs to me are magical, they capture happiness and on occassions sadness.  They can trigger memories of people and places.  They can transport you back in time and remind you of times loved and past. They can show you how far you have come.

Here are a collection of photo’s that mean a lot to me.

This is Baby’s first ever photograph!  Taken at 7 weeks and 6 days.  It took lot’s of tears and heart ache to get to this point, to be pregnant finally.

I cannot describe how special it was to see this little blob and see it flicker.

Baby’s next appearance at 13 weeks.  Amazing the growth that takes place in 5-6 weeks.

So for the purposes of the competition, my six word story is;  My photographs, past, present, making memories.

If you would like to enter the competition and be in with a chance to win £500 of John Lewis vouchers, you can find out more here.   What is your most treasured possession?

  1. What a wonderful response to the question – photos capture memories and evoke so many feelings, don’t they? I haven’t printed any out since the end of 2011 so I really need to print some new ones to have around the house!

  2. Oh I’m SO with you on this one! Photos are so important 🙂 We spent many years TTC after #1 and our early scan pictures are special too. I’m so pleased someone told me to scan them into the computer – ad they fade quite quickly!

  5. Couldn’t agree with you more. Due to a very tragic death of my PC about 4 years ago, I lost all photos prior to 2010. Thanks to drop box, this won’t happen again but boy it was devastating at the time!

  8. Photographs are such a treasure and yet with the arrival of digital photographs I find that we don’t print, share and display our pictures as much as we used to. There used to be just 12 or 24 pictures from a holiday and those choice pictures were very special. Now having the ability to take hundreds of pictures we rarely take the time to sort, edit, print and put in an album. Your scan pictures are of course the exception to that. You only get one or two usually and they are so, so precious x

  9. I love my scan photo’s – I have 2 excellent ones with baby no.4 sucking his thumb and sticking out his tongue. But they’re online now, they’re safe, they’re in 2 places and unlikely to be completely lost 🙂
