Before I had a child

Before I Had A Child

My gorgeous friend Nat recently wrote a fabulous post describing herself and her life before she had children.  She invited me to share my pre-Baby self, so here goes.

Before I had a child

Before I had a child I always assumed I would have two children.

Before I had a child I thought there was no reason for children to have snot on their faces, for a single second.

Before I had a child I was convinced I would cook everything from scratch for my darling offspring.

Before I had a child I took for granted going to the loo on my own…

Before I had a child I thought that children who had tantrums were probably being fed too many E numbers.

Before I had a child I didn’t realise the pure unadulterated joy that comes from hearing your child say ‘Mama’.

Before I had a child I had a flat stomach.

Before I had a child I had forgotten the joy gained from so many little things.

Before I had a child I thought I was happy.

Before I had a child I had no true comprehension of the scale of a mother’s love.

Before I had a child

I am now going to ask a few friends to share their ‘Before I had children’, so let’s have it Katy, Em, Amy and Kat.

How was your life before you had a child?

  1. What a great premise for a post! Before I had children I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t sit quietly in a cafe while I was trying to enjoy my beloved coffee and thought it was simply bad parenting. Hahahaha! Then I was blessed with two little boys. Jokes on me!

  2. Life before children is quite the life, isn’t it; but no where near full of such fun as when children are part of it. I can relate with all you wrote and might just reflect on mine. Thanks for sharing. #SundayStars

  3. I thought I was happy to but you just don’t realise how much joy a baby will bring! I look back at my pre-baby life now and think how boring and pointless it was! #sundaystars

  4. I love this! I actually completely disregarded a nursery because I saw 5 snotty kids running around

  5. I can relate to a lot of this! I had no idea what I was getting myself into. But I wouldn’t change a thing! Ok, well maybe I’d change a bit! But I never regret being a Mummy. #brilliantblogposts

  6. What a beautiful post! 🙂
Like you, I thought a lot of things were simply ‘bad parenting’ and I think I really did underestimate how much there is to think about being a mummy and how hard it can be at times!
