I don’t like water, there I said it! I know I should, but I am just not a fan of plain water. I am lucky though, that ever since Baby has been old enough she has loved drinking and although she would probably prefer juice or cordial, she happily drinks plain water.
Having said that I would not know exactly how much she drinks a day, I just keep filling her bottles up! I wouldn’t be totally sure what was the magic number in terms of litres per day for a child to drink…
It would seem I am not alone, with two out three parents saying they do not know how much water their children should be drinking each day, that makes it a bit hit and miss getting the right amount in them each day.

Long summer days mean there are plenty of opportunities to spent lots of time outside playing and having fun. When Baby is with friends playing outside, this is the only time we have to really focus on making sure she takes frequent drinks.
Robinsons launched their Enjoying Drinking More Water campaign at the start of the year and recently challenged a few bloggers to share our top tips for making sure that our kids stay properly hydrated.

With 42% of parents saying their children find the taste of water ‘boring’, we might have the solution for you.
Squash’d the super concentrated squash from Robinsons makes it really easy to keep your kids fluid levels up wherever you are. Offering six flavours in handy handbag sized bottles, means it won’t be additional weight to lug around in your already ladened bag!
The flavours are;
- Apple & Blackcurrant
- Summer Fruit
- Passion Fruit and Mango
- Lemon & Lime
- Citrus
- Orange & Peach
With no added sugar or artificial preservatives they are a great way to add more flavour to ‘boring’ water!

Baby had a ball tasting all the lovely new flavours.

If your kids are trickier to hydrate than Baby, I have some tips which might help.

- Buy funky straws for your kids to use. Nothing makes kids keep sipping more than a bendy straw. We have ones with pink flamingos on!
- Use a reward chart. I know Baby loves a sticker or two and they can encourage her to do most things.
- Make ice lollies. Another thing that is almost impossible for kids to resist.
- Chop up some fruit and add it to the bottle. Something a little different often gets kids more interested.
- Always have a bottle of water in your bag to make it easy to drink on the go.
- Tell them it is your water and they can’t have it! Seriously, that will get them wanting to drink it like a shot!
We had a lovely impromptu taste test in the garden and Baby happily drank all the flavours on offer. She now asks if we can take the ‘small juice’ with us when we go anywhere!
As suspected she loved the sticker chart that Robinsons sent us, so I think this would be great for more reluctant drinkers.
Do your kids enjoy water? What problems do you experience with kid’s hydration? Have you tried Robinsons Squash’d?

My little girl guzzles her juice regularly but it needs to be flavoured water. My son only drinks water and he needs reminding to drink which is hard work!
Aww gorgeous photos! x
