The Return Of The Crazy

Ever since we came back from our family holiday in Cornwall, germs have been lurking in our house.  Mr Hubby and Baby were ill on our return and although it seemed to let up a little, the feeling of being off colour remained with us.  Two weeks ago Mr Hubby developed a sickness bug and just as he was coming out the other side, Baby started being sick (on top of the awful cold she was suffering from).  Then by Wednesday sickness hit me too.  As I type this on Saturday, I am still quite under the weather, but Baby has hopefully started to turn a corner.

ill Baby

Watching your child be sick numerous times a day, unable to even keep down water is just awful.  Watching how, in five days, her weight started to drop and her spirit was becoming more and more dulled seemingly with every passing hour, is so stressful.  We have spent all week lying together on the couch, watching tv, desperate to feel better. On one occasion I thought Baby was getting better, as she hadn’t been sick for 30 hours, yet it wasn’t long before the sickness returned with a vengeance.  Mr Hubby and I got a little sad on Friday as we watched a few clips of Baby on video and it reminded us of her usual vibrance; a stark contrast to the little girl we had looked after all day, so listless and limp.

Just drinking water from a bottle to give her some comfort.

Then on Saturday things started to change.  Baby started laughing and playing, showing glimmers of her usual feisty self.  We even ventured into the garden for a play as Mr Hubby mowed the lawn.

She had such fun and was so happy to be outside (not just being carried by Mr Hubby to the Doctors!).  Just seeing her laughing and running round was such a tonic.  It was almost as if I was seeing her have fun and laugh for the first time.  I am so grateful that she is on the mend.

Fingers crossed the germs are on their way out and we can return to normal, and I can return to chasing round after my crazy little girl.
