Baby loves to learn, she counts to twenty with help, then recites the numbers to herself when she is falling asleep. She adores reading and is always asking what the names of new things are.
So when were asked to review a new learning app for tablets from Tiggly, I thought it would be a great way to start her with shapes. Tiggly have three apps, Shapes, Maths and Words and as Baby is 27 months old we were sent the Shapes app, which came with a Tiggly plush toy.
Launching in the UK on July 24th on QVC (already available on Amazon, Apple.com, and Currys) Tiggly Shapes is a set of four shapes, which interact with the app to help children ages 2-5 to grasp the concept of shapes. There are three free apps which come with Tiggly Shapes – Draw, Safari and Stamp.
Mr Hubby downloaded the apps to my tablet and had a go himself! He was very pleased that he could do it! The following day I let Baby loose and she was amazing! I was so surprised how quickly she picked it up picking the correct shape from her pile to match the one on screen. Occasionally the shape she was holding would go down on the tablet screen out of pure excitement, but 95% of the time she placed the correct shape down. Considering we haven’t taught her any shapes yet, she did so well and she really enjoyed it. She loved seeing what animals the shapes turned into when she got it right and even followed the shape round the screen to place her shape exact on top of the screen shape.
She really enjoyed interacting with the app, it really did make learning fun. The only issue we had was that the app crashed a few times mid game. Meaning that we had to restart the app and the game we were on.
I think these learning apps are a great way to teach children, while keeping it fun.
I have one Tiggly app package to give away and the winner will be able to pick from Tiggly Words, Numbers or Shapes.
Disclosure: We were sent the app package in return for an honest review.
