Salter Pancake Day Blogger Challenge 2015
We were asked by Salter to take part in their 2015 Pancake Day Blogger Challenge, ahead of next Tuesday’s Pancake Day! For those of you how don’t know, Salter make exceptional precision kitchen equipment, that help you to create perfect bakes every time!
To help us on our challenge we were sent some kitchen equipment from the Heston Blumenthal range. Heston Blumenthal Precision Professional Whisk, Heston Blumenthal Precision Multipurpose Spatulas and Heston Blumenthal Precision Kitchen Scale all available at Selfridges & Amazon.
I was brought up mainly in Scotland and so I love Scotch pancakes. I also think they are more toddler friendly, being that bit smaller. So I knocked up a batch using this recipe;
Ingredients
50g caster sugar
100g flour (plain or self-raising)
1 egg
splash of milk
The method
- Combine the flour and sugar.
- Add the egg
- Smooth out the mix by gradually adding and whisking in splashes of milk. You are aiming for the consistency of double cream.
- Lightly oil a heavy bottom pan.
- When hot, ladle in the batter.
- Then heat the frying pan. When the frying pan is hot, ladle in some of the batter.
- Wait for the bubbles to appear, then turn. Total cooking time is usually 2 minutes.
I decided to present Baby’s in a more imaginative way, than mine were presented to me as a child. So, I took some inspiration from Frozen and went with Olaf!
Oh and I am aware is not a very good likeness!
What is your favourite pancake filling? Have you ever made crazy pancakes to please your children?
