We live in the central part of the south of England and are so lucky to be surrounded by wonderful days out. We love exploring new places and spending the whole day enjoying one of the fantastic places that cater for children. I thought I would share ten of our favourite days out and then you can enjoy them too.
Peppa Pig World
We reviewed Peppa Pig world last year and had a fantastic day out. There is so much to do that we struggled to get round it all. Benefiting from plenty of on-site catering and as Peppa Pig World is within Paultons Park, you have access to all the rides in the larger park too. There are animals, country walks, rides, a water park and so much more.

Marwell Zoological Park
We live about 30 minutes from Marwell, which is only a few miles from junction 11 of the M3. Having had annual passes previously we have been on many trip‘s to Marwell. You will see all the usual animals, although as it is a zoological park and not a zoo, there are no Elephants. We have had so many wonderful day’s out at Marwell.

ZSL London Zoo
As a northern child, I had never been to London Zoo before, until be reviewed it as part of Baby’s 2nd birthday weekend of days out. We had such a wonderful day out and our preconceptions of what an inner city Zoo might be like were abolished. The animals were happy and thriving and all the cages seemed sizeable. We also went back recently for a YouTube event and had a trip round the zoo afterwards.

Cotswold Wildlife Park
We adore this wildlife park! It is in such a wonderful setting and as a keen photographer I love that all the fencing is low (although still safe), meaning you can get better shots. We have visited a few times and love seeing the wide variety of animals who live there.

Wellington Country Park
Located near Reading, Wellington Country Park is a wonderful local venue for us. A huge park with various playgrounds, indoor soft play, an animal farm, a fairy wood, giant dinosaurs, space to camp and a lovely lake to wander round. They also have special events on throughout the year; we went to the fairy and pixie party.

West Wittering Beach
West Wittering beach has got to be one of our favourite days out since we became parents. Since our first trip we have been back many times; in the summer for picnics and we even love it in the winter when it is a little more wild. It is such a wonderful place to have special family time.

Mottisfont National Trust
Mottisfont is a stunning National Trust property set in gorgeous gardens. Our first visit was when Baby was only a few months old, and it was the first time she has sat on grass! We returned to review the Charlie and Lola experience and more recently at Christmas to review the Christmas Carol trail, which was a lovely day out. The cafe is wonderful too!

The Vyne
The Vyne in Sherborne St John, near Basingstoke is another National Trust house and gardens that is perfect for an adventure. Gorgeous walks, a great playground, huge lake, enormous wooden animal sculptures and lovely shop and cafe, make it a perfect family day out.

Finkley Down Farm
Finkley Down Farm is on the outskirts of Andover in Hampshire and we have had many days out here. They have lots of animals, including the opportunity to pet the rabbits and groom the ponies at certain times of the day. With pony riding during the summer months and a huge play area, with sections suitable for all different ages. There are full size trampolines and a large indoor cafe and soft play centre too. They often run seasonal events.

Lepe beach
Another southern beach we love is Lepe, which is part of the country park in Exbury, Southampton. There is a cafe and walking trails through the country park. A very pretty spot.

There you have it ten of our favourite days out for kids. Have you been to any of these places? What’s your favourite day out for kids?

These look like great places to explore – We loved a visit to our local Zoo and Boo had the best time! I love the photo of Baby at the Fairy Door – so cute!
Wow what an amazing collection of places, I wish I could come! xxxxx
What a great round up of places to visit! Our boys love the zoo. x
We’re in the south too so very handy post for me! We love Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for a day out. When you buy a ticket you get unlimited access for a whole year so it’s good value. I’m excited for the summer now and trips to west witterings!
Having lived in Hampshire most of my life we’ve been to a lot of these. However, there’s a few like Finkley and The Vyne that we’ve missed. West Wittering Beach is just beautiful and we loved the Christmas trial at Mottosfont. Fab pictures as always! X
