I usually avoid the news, I am a sensitive soul and I find it too upsetting to watch. However, one piece of news caught my attention. In fact, it was an image, an image that you can’t unsee, one that will stay with you forever. By now you will have all seen the images of little Aylan, who was washed ashore on the beach, when he and his family were trying to find safety.
That poor little boy.
It is hard not to break down when faced with those images, as parents I think we all immediately think that it could have been our own children; the loves of our lives lying there on the beach. It doesn’t bear thinking about does it?, but Aylan’s family have no choice but to think about it because they are living it.
Now is the time to do something. We have to do something, we have to help.
We have started this campaign in the hope that it will send out a powerful message, one that will resonate with everyone and raise a lot of money.
The message is simple, it needs no explanation and I hope you will join us by sharing your own black and white image on social media along with the words ‘It could have been me/us’. You can use your children, your whole family or just you. It could have been any of us. Sharing along with #SaveSyriasChildren on social media will help spread the message and bring as much attention to the campaign as possible.
The most important thing is that people donate. As a campaign we are working with Save The Children, but of course you can choose who to support as long as they get help it doesn’t matter where it comes from.
Please help. A simple act from us will make such a difference to those who need it.

I understand you missed a night’s sleep and helped organise #savesyriaschildren while on holiday. Quite an undertaking and so glad to see the campaign seems to have gone well. I hope it has raised serious funds for Save the Children. I’m proud to have participated.

Well done for creating this campaign. The picture of Aylan broke my heart. It’s so important that we show the government (and the world) that we won’t turn a blind eye. When my daughter gets home from school today, I’ll be taking my pic xx
The images have been heartbreaking and it makes you hold your own a little closer. Seems incredible that this is happening in the world, that is so small. It is as though we live planets apart. Makes me equally sad to read negative comments on facebook about it. Thank you for helping them. We are doing something as a church this Sunday and hope that every little bit helps x
