Word of the week #11

It’s Friday and so I am linking up with the lovely Jocelyn from The Reading Residence for Word of the week #WOTW.

The word of my week is;

Preparation

This week has mainly been about preparation.  Baby is one on Sunday and we have her Birthday party on Saturday, so we have been busy, busy, busy!

I picked an Alice in Wonderland theme, so I have been making crazy signs, bunting and various other decorations.  Printing quotes from the film to put on the walls.  Tissue paper pom poms now adorn our house in preparation for their move to the village hall.  I have planned, baked, decorated, wrapped, organised food, rolled fondant, created things from sugar paste, sourced music and made lots of clocks!  I have scowered charity shops and car boot sales for vintage looking crockery to dress the food table.

I have still got to finish the cake, make the buffet and transport a million toys and piles of food to the village hall.  Then on Saturday after just two hours it will all be over.  We will have our memories, lots of photos and probably a very tired Baby.  I think I might be ready for a little snooze by then too! (or a vodka!)

WOTWMy previous words of the week have been Organised , Overwhelmed,  Blessed,  Active , Cuddles , Play-Date/Illness, Change,

Horrible, Indecision and Achievement

If you enjoy reading my blog I would appreciate it if you could nominate me in the BiB Awards xx

  2. This sounds like such a cool theme! I think with the first birthdays sometimes its more for us than it is for them and it sounds like you’ve been enjoying the process and experience so that’s great! The photos and memories will be lovely to have. #WotW

  4. Oh I want to see some pictures. Have fun I hope it is great. Lovely theme you have chosen. The only party I have done for Aaron was his baptism one and that cost me 700 pounds so he hasn’t had a party since ooooops. But this Summer for his 4th birthday he is to have a garden party. That way I am hoping to save on venue hire. Enjoy yours and don’t get too stressed (I am thinking of myself when saying that) and allow people to help. I only say that as we went to a 1 year old’s birthday party in a function room, a couple of weeks ago (I blogged about it) and the parents let everyone do everything. They still looked slightly stressed but it was a great team effort. Us guests left the hall and went to the carpark with them, as we all stayed to tidy up. I think the slight stressful look on their faces was because no matter how much people help, you still have the stress of hoping it all went well and that everyone enjoyed themselves. I hope you get chance to have some laughs and enjoy yours xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
