I adore Christmas traditions and I shared our list with you a couple of weeks ago. I think they prolong the excitement of Christmas and they help me begin to feel festive. A few months ago I saw a picture on someone Facebook feed highlighting the idea of a book a day through advent. I love this idea, a little present of a new book each day on the run up to Christmas.
I decided not to have 100% Christmas books, as I want them to be read all year. So I started with some general books that I knew Baby would enjoy and as we get nearer to Christmas they start to become more Christmas themed.
If the thought of buying 24 new books is daunting, think about buying from a charity shops, or buy a set of books and split them up. We were also gifted a few books from friends and a few are from the pound shop or The Range, where they are also £1. So it needn’t be very expensive to achieve.
I picked up some brown paper & ribbon for next to nothing and simply wrote the date on the tags. I would, ideally, have liked to make the tags prettier, but time was against me and Baby won’t care!
They will all be placed under the tree and each morning Baby will receive a new book.

Ah that is such a sweet idea. I am making an advent calendar for my two, still sewing though and I’ve got so much to do today, eek should have been more organised!!

Lovely idea, it must be so exciting too to open a pressie every day! We have a lego one this year so quite the opposite of this fab homemade version, but my son is very excited nonetheless! Can’t wait to hear about your books. Thanks for linking up with #sundaystars

I saw this somewhere else and think it is a fab idea! I like your idea of buying books from charity shops or bargain places like the range, definitely makes it more affordable! My only concern is that we already have sooo many books and though he us getting a few more for Christmas, the thought of adding a whole 24 books is a bit daunting! I think it is a great idea though and much nicer than a chocolate a day! Xx #sundaystars
This is a great idea! The idea of buying from charity shops is a great one and I guess if you have older books that haven’t seen the light of day for months on end you could wrap those up to make them new and exciting again 🙂
